NLPreCom: PreCommisioning ToolNLPreCom - LonWorks Network PreCommissioning Tool
NLPreCom is a highly recommended tool for evaluating the network before the commissioning phase. It is used to qualify the wiring of the network, the network topology consistency and the connection of the nodes. This tool is dedicated to the technician on job site who needs to check the complete wiring, network topology consistency and who needs to prepare the commissioning phase. Meaningful reporting functions do help the technician to keep the overview at any time in the pre-commissioning phase.
NLPreCom goes without technical terminology and can be easily handled by non-experts due to its elemental designed user interface. The pre-commissioning tool uses "test packages" designed by the system integrator for every device type. The entire testing and configuration actions are designed into each package.
NLPreCom basically covers four procedures. It first scans the network for active nodes. Following it checks the network health by stressing the nodes, calculating errors, and proposing simple actions in case of found problems. Further more NLPreCom allows to download a application and configuration to a node as well as sending commands and reading status or value information. Last but not least a detailed report can be generated This report certifies that tests are done and network wiring 100% in order before going on the job site for commissioning.
NLPreCom also includes a function to dramatically reduce commissioning time: PointAndName. By reading the node ID with a barcode reader the LNS® based commissioning of the nodes can be performed. Installer can indeed collect the complete NeuronID label and stick them on a preformatted sheet used later by the integrator to commission the devices in the LNS® database in a simple and quick way through a codebar reader.
